Twilight Maple

In very rare cases, a mundane maple tree will sprout a mutation that causes its bark to turn black and its leaves and heartwood to turn purple. The cause of this anomaly is unknown, but it is conjectured to be connected to the leylines of the weave that run through the world.

While the trees themselves are easy to spot, felling and working Twilight Maple is very hard on the tools used. The heartwood provides a potent material for magical wands and staves, as it seems to have some connection to the weave.
