Gungnir
All-father Odin only rarely uses his spear in anger. When he does, its wrath is extraordinary to behold. Perfectly balanced, the spear feels as light as a feather to its wielder, yet it impacts its target with incredible force.
While no mortal has ever wielded the spear, Odin has foreseen the coming of a great mortal champion who will require the spear for a singular act of heroism. Until then, it leans against his throne in Valhalla.
Gungnir's leaf-shaped spearhead is made from primordial sky iron. It has been masterfully inscribed with runic spells on both sides by Odin himself. Its shaft is a knotted branch from the very top of Yggdrasil, the world tree, gathered by Odin as he wandered through the far reaches of the cosmos.
While you are attuned to Gungnir you gain the following benefits:
- You gain a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls with this weapon.
- Gungnir always strikes true. Attacks with this weapon have advantage. If you would have advantage on the attack without this property, the attack instead deals 10 (3d6) additional damage if it hits, or 13 (3d8) damage if wielded in two hands.
- The spear's thrown range is doubled, and it returns to your hand after you attack with it. Enemies gain no benefit from non-total cover against this weapon.
- When you take the Attack action on your turn, you can forgo one of your attacks and throw Gungnir at an unoccupied space within range. You then teleport to the chosen location.
