Hexmaster

You have made a pact with a cursed entity of some sort - perhaps a hag, werewolf, shadow dragon, or even a cursed sentient magic item. The dark plane of the Shadowfell is teeming with powers of this kind.

You learn to bend the shadowy forces of your patron in order to weave dark curses and hexes around your foes.

The Hexmaster

This subclass is intended to be a replacement for the Hexblade, with the features from Hex Warrior moved to Pact of the Blade. This opens up for more builds, and lessens the power of single-level multiclass dips while still preserving the flavor.

Extended Spell List

1st-level Hexmaster feature

You can choose from an expanded list of spells when you learn a warlock spell. The following spells are added to the warlock spell list for you.

Spell LevelSpells
1Dissonant Whispers, Bane
2Phantasmal Force, Blindness/Deafness
3Bestow Curse, Speak with Dead
4Phantasmal Killer, Confusion
5Dream, Dominate Person

Hexmaster's Curse

1st-level Hexmaster feature

You learn the Hex spell (it does not count against your total number of spells known), and you gain additional bonuses against your hexed target:

  • Your attacks against the hexed target deal a critical hit on a 19.
  • If the hexed target dies, you can use your reaction to end the spell and regain hit points equal to your warlock level + your Charisma modifier.

Instinctive Hex

6th-level Hexmaster feature

You no longer need to concentrate on the Hex spell, and the extra damage you deal against hexed targets now equals 1d6 + your proficiency bonus.

Armor of Hexes

10th-level Hexmaster feature

When you are hit by an attack roll from a target that is hexed by you, you can use your reaction to force the target to re-roll the attack, and it must use the new roll.

Master of Hexes

14th-level Hexmaster feature

You can now have your Hex active on two targets simultaneously, and the reaction to heal when a target dies no longer ends the spell.
