Volters look like white antelopes, and are native to the elemental plane of air, where large herds of them graze on the Cloudplains. While volters are usually not hostile, preferring to run rather than fight, they will use their horns to defend themselves if cornered.

Their slightly curved horns deliver a nasty lightning shock, and remain charged for hours if the volter is killed. Volter horns and fur are prized for their ability to carry elemental enchantments, but hunting volters is dangerous work.
